Notre Dame finished 9–0–1 and win the national championship while Purdue made its first trip to the Rose Bowl a memorable one, beating USC, 14–13. The Irish extended their home winning streak to an impressive 26 games in a row with the win on Saturday over the Boilermakers. It took a little while for Notre Dame to get going overall on Saturday but the Irish did enough to help secure a 27-13 win over Purdue on Saturday inside Notre Dame Stadium. Was it a perfect game? Absolutely not, but it was definitely a better overall game for the Irish. The Irish knew they had to play better coming into this weeks matchup against Purdue.
